2007

Katie has contested on a couple of events so far this year, to include the Red Kite stages with Gravel Girl Nicola Parker, hopefully they will be out together on some more of the WAMC forestry rounds. She has also sat with Gary Thomas, of Tsalta Motorsport on the Agbo stages, held at Weston Park, Seeded at car 1, they were lying 2nd overall when disaster struck on stage 7 with the oil filter seal splitting, and draining all the oil from the tank. Hopefully Katie will be able to do some more events with Gary later on in the year. Katie will also be contesting the Peugeot 205 Challenge with Karen Morgan, the first round will be at Driffield on Sunday 15th April. The girls are to be the first all female crew in the challenge! The girls are looking forward to their First Events. James & Katie are hoping to be back out in the Astra together sometime in April, but have their sights set on Raven's Rock Rally, Ireland in June.

2006

We decided to take time out this year to develop the car, with only one outing together which was the Enville Stages, Ty Croes in June. We decided to have some RWD fun, so a friend of ours had an Escort Mk1 sitting on his drive, so we got it up to MSA log book standard and took that out for a blast!! It did’t last long on the first day, the second stage saw us pulling over due to clutch problems, but we sorted that out and were back out on the Sunday, where we had a good time and a smile was on our faces all day!!

Although James has been developing the car, Katie has done a number of events with Gareth ‘Penuwch’ Richards in the Talbot Sunbeam. Their first outing together was The Tour of Epynt, unfortunately they only managed a few stages before the box ceased!!!!

We then headed to Shropshire for the Agbo stages at Weston Park, with a covering of snow it was set to be an interesting rally, although the snow soon disappeared it was still very slippery, but we finished the rally 4th o/a 1st in class. It was over the water to Ireland for their next outing on the Raven’s Rock Rally, Katie had never competed over in Ireland before, and it had been many years since Gareth had competed over there. We had a good recce on the Saturday and an even better day on the Sunday, after a small off and some steering problems, we managed to finish the rally 35th o/a and 3rd in class. We were both really pleased with result. The last event for 2006 was the Harry Flatters, and with a lack of brakes and suspension problems we were happy to finish 8th o/a, 2nd in class and best mixed crew.

2005

Again we registered for the WAMC Clubman’s Tarmac championship, but didn’t follow it as much as we did the previous year. We also contested in our motor club’s championship (Aberystwyth & District Motor Club), which had different events to the Welsh which we hadn’t competed on before.

Our year saw us competing on a number of tarmac events, with 3 non finishers. We were happy to have picked up a trophy for all the other events we finished. Our best result to date came on the Enville Stages at Ty Croes where we had a fantastic day finishing 6th O/A and 2nd in class, not bad for an 8v against the 16valvers!!! Later on in the year we had another two top 10 finishes, the first came at the Peter Lloyd stages, Pembrey where we finished 9th o/a 2nd in class, and the second came back at Ty Croes, this time on the Glyn Memorial stages which is a two day event, here we finished 8th o/a and 3rd in class.

It was our best year rallying yet, with James taking the overall driver award in Aberystwyth’s club championship, and although they hadn’t contested a full round in the Welsh, he managed to finish 2nd in Class 3A and pick up best Junior Driver. Katie also picked up overall co-driver in Aberystwyth’s club championship, and 2nd in class 3A in the Welsh, along with best lady co-driver in both championships. We also picked up some other awards in the club’s dinner which include four Best Aberystwyth Crew awards, Club Persons of the year, and Katie picked up worker of the year, so all in all a good year!

2004

This was our first full year in stage rallies and we decided on contesting in the WAMC Clubman’s tarmac championship. We had a mixed year with a few learning curves, which included a few repairs to the car!!! But at the end of the year we were only 3 points off wining the championship, but had to settle for winning our class, with Katie also picking up Best Lady co-driver.
